Ellesmere College Open Day Hugely Successful

The poor weather on Sunday did not deter record numbers of families visiting Ellesmere College for the annual Open Day, keeping staff and pupils busy escorting visitors around the School.

A considerable amount of academic work from pupils at different stages was on display including the International Baccalaureate Diploma offered in the Sixth Form. Visiting children had the opportunity to participate in a number of sports activities, including tennis and golf exercises as well as cricket net practice. There were Science experiments, crafts and a quiz to occupy younger visitors as families progressed around the School.

Mr. Richard Walsh, a parent and keen organist was to be found playing the Chapel organ whilst Music Scholars provided the background music during afternoon tea served in Big School to over 600 visitors.

Brendan Wignall, Headmaster, commented; 'I am always keen to ensure that the School's summer Open Day is meaningful to all our visitors. It is traditionally supported well by our current parents, however, we are always delighted to meet families visiting us for the first time, as well as those enjoying a second visit. Again this year I was particularly delighted to welcome back a number of former pupils who had decided to return with their families and take the opportunity to catch-up with the considerable recent developments at their former school.'
