On 12th October a group of Ellesmere College confirmation candidates undertook a pilgrimage to Lichfield Cathedral with the School's Chaplain, Father David Slim.
As a Woodard Corporation School, Ellesmere College was invited to send representatives to connect with other schools within the group, learn about the significance of the cathedral to Christian life as well as to witness and experience the Eucharist in an exciting way.
The group included pupils from years 7, 8 and 9 and were, George and Ronnie Clewlow, Charles Coppinger, Angus Dingwall, Jens Lee and Ioan Parry-Jones. Father David commented, 'we all enjoyed the Eucharist which combined modern worship music, congregational participation and the 'smells and bells' of high church ritual. It was a wonderful experience, taking the best of traditions, using them in a modern setting and employing an ancient building for its prime purpose. The Pilgrim Tour of the cathedral stimulated questions from the boys to the cathedral guides and the whole day was well organised.'
