Ellesmere College Appoint Fundraising Director
During its 125th Anniversary Year, Ellesmere College has appointed a Director of Development to create a department to focus efforts on fundraising at the School. Since half-term Nick Pettingale has been busy meeting with members of the Old Ellesmerian Club, School Governors, staff, pupils and parents.
Nick originally trained as a Graphic Designer. During his design career he visited friends in Ethiopia at the time of the 85 famine which set him on a path of fundraising and charity work. After helping to establish two charities in Ethiopia and a UK based charity focussed on disadvantaged young people in the Midlands, he renewed his business career operating at board level in three national and international companies.
More recently Nick was a consultant trainer/mentor for a large London based charity helping the homeless and latterly set up a charitable Foundation at Stamford Endowed Schools in Lincolnshire. After funding some small capital projects he successfully launched a Bursary Fund which is currently supporting more than 28 children at Stamford Schools.
Nick is very excited about the new role of Director of Development at Ellesmere College, saying It is refreshing to work in such a friendly place, which has managed to hold both entrepreneurial, innovative thinking and traditional values together, and to be part of a school which deliberately focuses its resources on the individual child achieving their best, rather than a set of league table results.
Nick is also a board member for World Emergency Relief and Deputy Chairman of the Institute of Development Professionals in Education. His family will be joining him in the near future and they will be living in Loppington. To relax Nick loves the gym, water colour painting, fine wines and cooking, although not all at the same time. He remains passionate about issues of justice and social inclusion.
