This Easter, Ellesmere College has been abuzz with activity with over 100 children having taken part in 9 days of courses at the School. The holidays started off with a 4 day Multi-Activities Course and Tennis Course. The Multi-Activities programme included making paper mache Easter eggs, a variety of sports including new games such as four-square and dodge ball but also including the favourites such as basketball, cricket and football. Each day the participants had the opportunity to swim in the Schools indoor pool. The week culminated in a birthday party for one of the participants and Chris Rogers , Sports Centre Manager and Course Manager. Chris said, it was a great week, the sun didnt shine on us but we still had a great week.
A group of 27 participants joined the Schools Tennis Academy Director, Nikki Hoy and Coach Ollie Gould for the Schools annual Easter Tennis Camp. All players took the opportunity to develop their skills during the 4 days, as well as competing against each other throughout the week. Nikki commented, we had a group of tennis players who joined us and became a very talented group by the end of the week. The players all enjoyed themselves.
During the second week the School hosted a two-day Cricket Camp lead by ECB Level III Coach Tutor Rod Jones, players of all abilities took part in the pre-season camp to help them prepare for the upcoming cricket season. The pre-season camp was met with sunshine and the participants were able to get outside to take part in drills and games to hone their skills for the season whether it is with school, club or county.
Throughout the second week of activities a group of adventurers joined Chris and the College Team Leaders for the second Adventure+ week at the School. The sun also shone on the activities which included a canoe trip on the Llangollen Canal from Ellesmere to Colemere, a session on a climbing wall, off road cycling around the School grounds. The group ventured off site on Thursday to visit Haughmond Hill and take part in some ropes activities at The Adventure Ropes Course at Albrighton Hall Hotel. Activities Supervisor, Tom King who worked with one of the groups commented Adventure+ is a really great course for youngsters, the development in them from Monday to Friday is phenomenal. They didnt know each other at the start of the week, now they are good friends. Activities Leader Hannah Phillips added to see participants who have been on the course before and first timers work so well together was great, it was a good week to be part of.
Chris Rogers was happy with the success of the Easter courses. He commented I am delighted with what we achieved this Easter; the School was abuzz which was great to see. We are fortunate to have inspirational staff who can offer extremely good courses and I feel all our participants enjoyed themselves.
