A group of enthusiastic cricketers have recently taken advantage of the Great British summer weather by taking part in an Andrew Flintoff Academy at the School.

Over 30 youngsters have taken part in the Academy being held at the School for a fun filled week packed with every aspect of cricket coaching, designed to build on existing talent and unearth future stars.

One of the potential stars of the future, Ross Theadens, participated in the Academy through a place offered by the School at a charity auction held at his local Frankton Cricket Club.

The Academy has been fully utilising the School’s facilities, including the indoor swimming pool and cricket nets.

Andrew Flintoff commented, “Cricket has given me so much and my Academy is the perfect way for me to pass on the passion and love that I have for the game. Creating an enjoyable environment is so important to enhance learning and this is what my Academy is based on.”

Chris Rogers, Sports Centre Manager, added, “It is great to see external courses using the College facilities, especially in such great weather. During the week we were delighted to welcome Dean Headley, former England one day international team player, who was also on hand to impart his knowledge from professional cricket to the young participants.”
