Careering Ahead: Success for Sixth Form Careers Conference

Now in it's 18th year, the Ellesmere College Yr 11 Careers Conference and Sixth Form Evening saw a record number of delegates and attendees from a host of businesses, universities and professionals from all walks of life.

Over 45 businesses, delegates and advisors were on-hand to help students (& their parents) in Yrs 11 and above make their next subject choices with A-levels, BTEC, the International Baccalaureate, and beyond. A Gap Year advisor and NCS ambassadors also attended the event to provide advice to those considering taking a break after their time at school and before entering university or apprenticeship.

Businesses were represented by current parents, former pupils and parents and local businesses, and further education choices were represented by universities and further education colleges.

Seminars were also held throughout the afternoon for students on a range of topics from University applications & UCAS to interview techniques, and included careers in law, construction, sport management, and architecture.

Richard Macintosh, Head of Careers commented, "The event has been held at the School for many years now and as the numbers of pupils in Year 11 has grown each year, so has the variety of requests for representatives from different companies and organisations. We were delighted that this year's Careers Conference was so well supported by former pupils, parents current and past and local businesses acting as careers advisors in their own particular fields of expertise, and we would like to thank them for giving up their time to come and share that expertise with our students today."
