U13 Hockey Success

Ellesmere's Under 13 Girls' Hockey team is celebrating an unbeaten season and will represent the county at the Midlands regional round of the National Mini Hockey Championship.

On Thursday, 23rd March, at Shrewsbury School, the Under 13's Girls' Hockey Team participated in the National Mini Hockey Championships Regional Round. The tournament was played in two league groups. Ellesmere College initially played against Thomas Telford and Ludlow Hockey Club. The team won both matches convincingly 3-0.

The team then played Shrewsbury High School in the semi-finals and won 2-0. The final match followed against a strong Bridgnorth Hockey Club. It was a close game, however, the Ellesmere College team retained the edge and won 2-0. The team included Zoe Evans (Capt), Carys Fieldhouse (GK), Emily Lewis, Charlotte Shearer, Viola Grosvenor, Alex Fearns, Sophie Halstead, Lucy Forgrave.

Helen Goss, Head of Girls' Games commented, 'The girls played well and it was a fantastic performance from everyone. A great team effort in both attack and defence! I am delighted for the team to have the opportunity to represent Shropshire in the Midlands round of the Championships. They will be playing teams from different Midlands Counties at Cannock Hockey Club on Sunday April 2nd. I congratulate all the girls in the team. They have had an impressive year of Hockey - unbeaten in all friendly games, Winners of the North Shropshire Tournament, Winners of the Packwood Hockey Tournament and now Winners of the Shropshire Region of the National Hockey Tournament.'
