Boys Win North Shropshire Hockey Tournament

At the recent North Shropshire Under 16 7-a-side Hockey Tournament, following a successful series of matches against local schools, the School team returned victorious.

At the annual Tournament, held this year at the Marches School, the Ellesmere College Hockey Club played against teams from 3 other local schools, succeeding to win 3 of their games and draw in the 4th.  The results of the 4 games were:

Ellesmere College Hockey Club vs Sir John Talbots B team 3-0 win
Ellesmere College Hockey Club vs Marches School 2-1 win
Ellesmere College Hockey Club vs Lakelands School 1-1 draw
Ellesmere College Hockey Club vs Sir John Talbots A team 1-0 win

Tom Hurst, Design and Technology teacher and Head of Boys Hockey explained, This is a huge achievement for the Hockey playing boys since, as far as I am aware, this is the first time in many years that Ellesmere College has won a tournament. Of particular note were the 5 goals, out of the 7 achieved by the team during the afternoon, which were scored by Year 10 pupil, Lenny Jebe.

Ian Williams, Director of Sport, added, This win means a lot to the boys and we all congratulate them on their recent success and look forward to their development during the season.
