The Chapel looked particularly beautiful last week as the School held its annual Harvest Festival services for both Senior and Lower School. The Chaplain, Father David Slim, conducted the services amidst a profusion of colourful produce and flowers, reminding staff and students of the need to be thankful. As well as distributing Harvest Gifts to local charities chosen this year to support the building of a shop for Formigas do Futuro, a school for street children in Mozambique and a project which former pupil, Melissa Habibi, introduced to the School.  Profits from the shop will go some way to providing financial stability for the school.

Dr. Ranjit Chatterjee, Head of Middle School, commented, �The Senior School Harvest Festival service gave all the pupils a real appreciation of how many people work to provide us with the food we need and how fortunate we were compared to people in other countries around the world.�  

The donated produce, included sculpted bread from Vermeulens in Ellesmere, was distributed to local charities, including Hope House, Dolywern Residential Home and The Meres Day Centre for the elderly. Formigas do Futuro will be receiving a sum of �844 which includes a generous anonymous donation.

Later this year, former pupils and members of the local community are welcome to join staff and pupils at the annual candlelit Community Carol Service on Thursday 2nd December at 7.30pm.
