Over 70 children from around Shropshire and beyond have enjoyed the good weather this week as they participated in the courses being run through the summer holidays.
There has been a flurry of activity around the Schools tennis courts with over 35 children, aged between 8 and 15, enjoying a week of tennis tuition led by Nikki Hoy and her team. In addition the ever-popular Multi-Activities Course have seen participants enjoying a variety of fun activities, including drama and art sessions, team games and swimming, with many of the activities being held outside to enjoy the extensive outdoor spaces and facilities to be found at the School.
A small group of 14 year olds have also been having a taste of sports leadership on a Sports Leader Level 1 Course, delivered by Chris Rogers, Sports Centre Manager. He commented, As the week progressed there were opportunities for the participants on this leadership course to demonstrate their skills to plan and lead a session. The last day also saw both the leaders and participants in the Multi-Activities course dressed as pirates and enjoying a fun themed day of activities around the School.
The programme of summer courses continues with 2 weeks of Adventure+ Courses for 11 to 15 year olds. Alongside international participants, local children will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities which will include mountain biking, canoeing, orienteering, cookery and a visit to the Rope Challenge Centre at the Albrighton Hall Hotel.
During the week commencing Monday 15th August, there will be also be a week of expert cricket and pre-season rugby training with the arrival of the Andrew Flintoff Academy at the School and an International Rugby Festival, with boys joining from around the world. All these courses are running alongside the hire of the School by a language school that sees over 150 students each week enjoying what is on offer at the School, around Shropshire and beyond. These residential stays also contribute to the local economy in a variety of ways and Thursday 24th August will also see the School hosting the ECB Lady Taverners Girls Club Cricket Finals, with families from around the UK staying at the School and in the locality.
