2008 A level Examination Results

Students at Ellesmere College are celebrating their A level achievements today and their teachers are delighted that students have achieved top grades and are able to move on to the university of their choice. Overall performance was very good with 97.2% of students achieving pass grades including some top class individual results. Over 31% of grades achieved were the top A/B grades. Most departments recorded 100% pass.

Whilst heartfelt congratulations go to all students there were some particularly notable performances that are worthy of specific mention such as Nathaniel Thomas who gathered two A's in Mathematics and IT and a further two B's and John Zhang who achieved an A grade in Mathematics, B in Further Maths and a B in Physics. These pleasing results follow the International Baccalaureate results published last month, which saw Johannes Beil achieve 39 points, equivalent to over 5 grades As at A level. Jamie McBrien achieved the equivalent of 4As and one B, and William Bartlett and Sarah Boehm's scores of 34 points equated to 4.5 grade As.

Mr Brendan Wignall, Headmaster, said 'We pride ourselves on helping young people to achieve academic success whilst at the same time developing the individual. We are delighted with today's A level results and the IB results last month. All students completing their studies with us this year deserve this success. Credit must also go to the excellent work of our teaching staff and of course to parents for their support and encouragement.'
