Ellesmere College is currently recovering from the devastation caused by yesterday’s high winds.
Many trees throughout the campus were uprooted with one particularly large one causing considerable damage to the Science Block. Part of the main Classroom Block roof was blown off as well as numerous slates from other buildings. The School was further challenged since there was a disruption of the main power supply for many hours.
Ken Brockless, Operations Director commented “Since yesterday lunchtime when the weather conditions deteriorated considerably the safety of our pupils and staff has been our main priority. We have begun the massive clear-up operation and remedial work which will take several days to complete.
Michael Sampson, Deputy Head, Pastoral added “Day Pupils have stayed at home and many weekly boarder are enjoying a long week-end.”
The School is aiming to be operational again by Monday.
