Ellesmere College Girls Under 13 Hockey Win Local Tournament
The Ellesmere Under 13 girls hockey team have excelled themselves this week at a local tournament.
On Wednesday 22nd February, Packwood Haugh held their annual U13 Hockey Tournament. This prestigious tournament included a number of local Schools from the area who competed against each other. Once again, the competition was fierce and a lot of good hockey was played throughout the afternoon. Ellesmere won their first round of matches to finish top of their pool by drawing against Shrewsbury High School 1 1; Beating the Marches 4 - 0 and Rydal Penrhos 1 - 0. In the semi-finals, Ellesmere played Moor Park and won 1 - 0. The final saw Ellesmere play Rydal again. The Ellesmere team dug in deep to win 1 - 0.
Miss Helen Goss commented "This is always a competitive tournament and to win is an excellent achievement for the girls and the college. The girls faced some skillful teams but showed determination throughout the afternoon. They have worked hard on their hockey all year and deserve this title"
