Lower School Entrance & Scholarship Examinations Satruday 28th January 2006

Places will be offered for entry into the Lower School Years 6,7 and 8 in September 2006 on the basis of performance in the Entrance Examinations and a reference from the candidate's present school. Awards will also be available for outstanding candidates via this route. Informal assessment carried out when a prospective pupil spends a day at the Lower School will also be taken into account. Candidates for entry into Years 4 and 5 will be assessed during their day spent at Ellesmere and therefore do not have to attend the Entrance Exam on the 28th January. Such assessment will also be aided by consideration of the pupils past performance at their current school.

Places are available for entry at five different age levels:-

1. 8+ Boys and girls who are already 8 years old by 1/9/06 for Year 4

2. 9+ Boys and girls who are already 9 years old by 1/9/06 for Year 5

3. 10+ Boys and girls who are already 10 years old by 1/9/06 for Year 6

4. 11+ Boys and girls who are already 11 years old by 1/9/06 for Year 7

5. 12+ Boys and girls who are already 12 years old by 1/9/06 for Year 8

The Examination will consist of :-

1. A verbal reasoning test

2. A mathematics test

3. A non-verbal reasoning test

4. A short piece of creative writing

Applications for the Extrance/Scholarship Exam must be received by Friday 20th January 2006
