New Head Boy & Head Girl

Elizabeth Swinnerton, known as Buffy, from Chester and Ashley James from Flint have enthusiastically accepted the role of Captains of School at Ellesmere College. Both pupils are weekly boarders. Buffy was eleven years old when she joined the  school in 1999 and as she says, has enjoyed every moment of being at Ellesmere She is currently studying A-levels in Business Studies, Sociology and PE with the aim to go to university to study World Development after spending a gap year doing voluntary work in a third world country.           .

Ashley James is a talented rugby player and is also the Captain of Rugby. He joined the school last year from St. Richard Gwyn High School in the Sixth Form to study for A-levels in Biology, Sociology and PE. His rugby skills have continued to develop at Ellesmere and he is currently playing for the Llanelli Scarletts Under 18 team in the Welsh league. He also enjoys taking part in school plays and will be performing the lead role in the forthcoming House Play competition. Ashley commented I have fun life at the School very full with much to do. I am looking forward to meeting some former pupils at the Manchester Old Ellesmerian Dinner at which I have been asked to give my first speech as Head Boy.

Buffy is also a keen sportswoman and as well as her role as Head Girl also enjoys being the captain of the Ellesmere College1st hockey team. She was particularly pleased with the result last week when the 1st XI went to the Isle of Man to play against the King William College and the team returned to school on Monday having won 2 goals to nil. Buffy commented that she is proud to be taking on the responsibilities of Head Girl. I believe it will be an interesting year ahead with many opportunities to represent the School at forthcoming functions.
