Ellesmere College held their Open Day on Sunday 22nd May and welcomed record numbers of families and former pupils through their gates.
Headmaster, Brendan Wignall commented, "we were pleased with the support we received during the afternoon from current parents and prospective parents looking around the school. Many different parts of the school were on display, including the academic departments, the Chapel and Sports Hall. The staff and pupils worked hard to make it a memorable visit for all our visitors. During the afternoon, we welcomed back to the School many former pupils since the annual Old Ellesmerian cricket match also took place on Sunday.'
There were numerous opportunities for visitors to participate in the activities throughout the campus, including practising cricket skills in the Sports Hall, learning to play croquet and football goal shooting. In the Geography department families marked the location of their homes on an interactive map and the History department display included a historical board game, created by Year 8 pupils and played by some of the younger visitors. At the end of the tour of the School, tea was served to all visitors in Big School, entertained by the Music Scholars.
