The Lower School Choir at Ellesmere College travelled across the border to Kings School, Chester to compete in the Under 14 Choir Competition as part of the Chester Festival of Performing Arts and brought back the Lever Cup.
It was the first time Ellesmere had entered the competition and the choir members enjoyed the opportunity to be part of the Chester Festival which provided a wide range of choral and instrumental competitions for young people of all ages.
Bethan Jones, the Lower School music teacher commented "The adjudicators comments were particularly valuable in the quality of their advice and the encouragement to the pupils in their music making' The Lower School choir were awarded a distinction, having performed "an excellent performance, technically and critically'
The two songs performed by the Choir were "While the Tanks roll by' (Marsh) and the Swing Low Medley (arr. Allen) they were accompanied by Alan Viner, a part - time organ and piano music teacher at Ellesmere College.
The pupils who took part in the competition are Jessica Brazier, Sam Clewlow, Matthew Dewhirst, Domenic Ellis, Elizabeth Evans, Melissa Evans, Carys Fieldhouse, Paddy Fuller, Pippi Gould, Zoe Haynes, Katy Leicester, Robbie Leicester, Emily Lipman, Bethany Lyttle, Polly Russell, Paige Rudd, James Sambrook-Jones, Charlotte Scott-Davies and Ross Tattersall.
Ellesmere College Choir will be performing a selection of songs during the school's Open Day.
