Last term, a group of Year 7 and 8 pupils at a North Shropshire School entered a national literacy competition and some of the pupils' work has been selected to be published.
A group of pupils from Ellesmere College's Lower School entered the national online Storycatcher Competition. To enter the competition, the pupils had to write about "2084'. The Year 7 pupils wrote poems whilst the Year 8 pupils composed stories.
All the competition entrants work has been published on the Storycatcher website with pupils all around the country voting for the pieces they like the best. The top national scorers then have their work published in a book.

Two Year 7 pupils, Alexander Owen and Rosie Pinches and two Year 8 pupils, Matthew Bielby and Verity Hughes were chosen to have their work published in a book called The "2084' Anthology which will be published at the end of next month.
Claire Crampton, from the English Department encouraged the pupils to submit their entries into the competition commented: "All the pupils worked hard to create the pieces and I am delighted that four of the entrants have been selected to have their work published'.
Ellesmere College is a 7-18 coeducational school and will be holding an Open Day on Sunday 22nd May between 2pm and 4pm.
