The AS and A Level Performing Arts pupils present a selection of dance, drama and music - including Gershwin's 'I Got Rhythm' and various shortscenes from plays such as "Mother Courage'.

A great opportunity to get a taste of The Arena Arts Programme.

Friday, 10th June

"My Kind of Music'

An evening with Mary Brotherton

7.30pm, Arts Centre

Ellesmere College will be playing host to the renowned soprano Mary Brotherton will be performing a variety of music from her repertoire. This concert is in aid of Hope House. Accompanied by David Watkins on the harp.

Admission: Free. There will be a retiring collection at the end of the concert.

Sunday, 22nd May

Ellesmere College Open Day

2pm — 4 pm

An ideal opportunity to come and have a look around the College, meet our staff and pupils and then join us for a cream tea. There will be performing and visual arts demonstrations, as well as many

other activities throughout the afternoon, including the 1st XV Cricket team

playing against a team of Old Ellesmerians.

 

"A' Level Art Exhibition

5.30pm, Art School

Featuring work produced by GCSE and A level students. A range of themes and diverse subjects will be on show. The exhibition is a culmination of two years work and covers artistic media such as sculpture, painting, drawings and textile design.

 

There will also be a Pre-school art exhibition by children from the Caterpillar Pre-school in Welshampton, which will be on display in the Arts Centre.

Schulze Organ Recital

7.30pm, Big School

Organist, Shaun Turnbull playing a variety of pieces on the historical Schulze Organ as well Music Scholar soloists performing a myriad of musical styles.

Friday, 17th June

“17” by Michael Gow

6.30pm The Lowry, Manchester

Ellesmere College has been chosen to perform its production of “17” at the prestigious Lowry Centre as part of the National Theatre/Shell Connections Festival.

Parents' Society Picnic

6pm

Parents' Society Summer Picnic on the Terraces. Lots of entertainment and lots of fun. An opportunity to mix and mingle.

 

Saturday, 2nd & Sunday, 3rd July

Year 9, 10 & 11 pupils perform:

"The Winter's Tale' by William Shakespeare

Following end of term Chapel. Big School and College Terraces.

As part of the BBC Talent's "Night of Shakespeare' the pupils will be performing this delightful fairytale. The first half of the play will take part on the Big School stage and is filled with tragedy and revenge! We then move onto the terraces, where in the second half, all is redeemed in joyous, comic

style.

This production has been selected to be performed on Sunday, 3rd July at the

Monday, 27th & Tuesday, 28th June

Year 8 Arts Days

As part of our ongoing Arena Arts Programme we are encouraging our pupils to explore their creativity in as many and varied ways as possible. Over these two days professional artists will be creating work with the Year 8 pupils. There will be an opportunity to view the work produced at the end of the two days. Also as part of this programme, the pupils will have the opportunity to create a short film. They will learn how to make a film from building the story boards through to planning camera angles and shooting the film. The end film project will be shown in the Michaelmas term.
