RUGBY OPPORTUNITES AT ELLESMERE COLLEGE

Ellesmere College offers congratulations to the England World Cup winning Rugby team. At Ellesmere College we are playing our part in developing the future generations of World Cup winners. . As part of the RFU Elite Player Development programme, Ellesmere College has formed a partnership with Worcester Rugby Club. Together we offer an exceptional opportunity for talented young rugby players. We are looking for    talented individuals aged 14 and over to join our Rugby Academy and benefit from a rugby scholarship whilst receiving a high quality education. Rugby has been part of Ellesmere College's tradition. Former pupils include Bill Beaumont, a former England Rugby Captain and Mark Keyworth who played for Swansea and England. One of the existing Rugby Scholars, Craig Gordon, who joined the school in September 2003 as a Rugby Academy Sixth Form Scholar, commented: "Having come from a local state school, it is all very new, but things are going well and in my first rugby game for the College, I scored 7 tries! We have daily practices and I have limitless access to the training facilities which includes the weight training room. I have recently taken up Canadian canoeing as part of my Duke of Edinburgh scheme. My next challenge is to learn to play golf on the school's own golf course. '       A former Ellesmere College, Headmaster, Ian Beer who was also President of the Rugby Football Union during the 1990's "I am delighted that the opportunity for development of young rugby talent has reached a new level at Ellesmere College and wish all the current scholars every success with their rugby playing and studies.'
