Music for all
“Music is for all at Ellesmere College! Opportunities for music are wide and varied,” says new Head of Music Julian Whittaker and new Deputy Head of Music Bethan Jones. Both are accomplished musicians themselves - Julian sings, plays piano, viola, organ and mandolin, and Bethan also sings, plays cornet, violin and piano. Ellesmere has a very exciting action plan for music. We want every child to be able to learn a musical instrument, to participate in musical groups and to undertake a challenging and varied programme of classroom work, including performing, listening and composing.
New weekly activities include:
Ceilidh and Jazz Bands for both junior and senior pupils, Choirs of different types for both junior and senior pupils, a Samba Band for the juniors and a Concert Band for the seniors.
But music at Ellesmere is not just for pupils at the college, The Ellesmere Choral Society welcomes not only students but also all the community.
