The Ellesmere College Senior Play

Twelfth Night

A comedy by William Shakespeare

A talented company of young actors from Ellesmere College brings some of Shakespeare's most memorable comic characters to life. Performed in period costume but with a very contemporary soundtrack. Before this production tours to the Tabor Academy, a school in Massachusetts, U.S.A, a one off performance will be held on March 25th, tickets cost £3. The company will then be leaving these fair shores on April 1st. Ellesmere College has had strong links with the Tabor Academy for some years now. Tabor will be visiting the college with their own production of "Ask Not….' a play about the Vietnam War. This performance can be seen on March 14th and 15th.

“Some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon "em”

The dual storyline concerns Viola (Rebecca Woodley Jones) - a girl dressed as a boy -who loves Duke Orsino (Sam Watson Jones). But the Duke Orsino loves the Countess Olivia (Beth Lyons). Countess Olivia, however, loves Viola - not realising Viola is a girl! Meanwhile, Olivia's debauched uncle, Sir Toby Belch (Ian Wilkinson), and his friends are intent on turning Malvolio (Steven Rossiter) - her ridiculous puritan steward - into a laughing stock.

“If this were played upon a stage now, I could condemn it as an improbable fiction”
