Following an impressive series of matches, at County and Regional levels, the 1st Girls Tennis Team have qualified for the Aberdare Cup National Schools Under 19 Championships that will take place early in July.
It has been a successful year for the Schools 1st Tennis Team. Earlier this term the team represented Great Britain at the World Schools Championships that took place in France and since the beginning of this term, the Girls Team have played and won their matches at County and Regional levels, beating Alcester Grammar School in Staffordshire recently to qualify as one of 16 teams from around the Country to play in the Aberdare Cup National Finals.
Travelling to Queenswood School in Hertfordshire, on 5th July to compete in the 4 day event, the 4 Shropshire girls are Sixth Form student, Jo Bowen who is the Captain of Girls Tennis at the School, Hannah Clarke in Year 11, alongside Harriet Jones and Olivia Jones in Year 10.
Accompanying the girls to the Aberdare Cup Finals will be Nikki Hoy, Director of Tennis Academy, This is a very exciting development for the EC Tennis Academy, since it is the first time since the launch of the Academy that we have won the regional finals and have qualified for this prestigious national championship.
