The challenge encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using mathematical techniques to solve problems. We were delighted that our students taking part achieved 6 Gold, 3 Silver and 6 Bronze awards between them.In addition, Year 12 student Jojo Kang received a Certificateof Distinction for obtaining one of the highest scores in theUK in the Mathematics Olympiad for Girls. This is a 2 hour paper consisting of five challenging problems requiring full written solutions.Students at Ellesmere start taking part in the British Mathematics Challenges from the age of 11, with Intermediate and Junior competitions taking place nationwide.
