Chirk Castle, nr. Wrexham

The Castle is 700 years old Marcher fortress. It was built in the late 13th Century by Roger Mortimer, Justice of North Wales for Edward 1st. The Castle was sold for �5,000 to Sir Thomas Myddelton in 1595 and his descendants continue to live in part of the Castle today.

Erddig, Wrexham

Atmospheric house featuring a 405 hectare country park and formal walled garden. Ironbridge

Ironbridge is the home of the world�s first cast iron bridge built over the River Severn at Coalbrookdale in 1779. The Ironbridge Gorge Museums are a series of ten amazing museums located in the spectacular and beautiful, Ironbridge Gorge, near Telford, that offers a great day out for people of all ages.

In 1986 the Ironbridge Gorge became one of the first group of 7 UK sites to be awarded World Heritage status by UNESCO. It was here in Shropshire that the industrial revolution first started. Abraham Darby discovered the secret of smelting iron with cheap and plentiful coke instead of expensive and less efficient charcoal.
