Students Score Top Marks in Exam Results

Students at Ellesmere College Sixth Form achieved another great crop of results and can celebrate their A level success. Overall performance saw 98.9% pass rate including quite a number of outstanding performances. Nearly 60% of all grades awarded to Ellesmere students were in the top A*/B grades with the girls raising that bar to nearly 70% of their grades published being in A*AB and a 100% pass rate.

Whilst heartfelt congratulations go to all our students there were several particularly notable performances that are worthy of specific mention.

The A level results follow on from those that IB students received earlier in the summer. The diploma pass level of 24 points is given the equivalent value of BCC grades at A Level. Well over half of the cohort (58%) achieved more than 30 points, which is equivalent of A*AA grades at A Level.

Always keen to develop new courses that serve students career aspirations, Ellesmere College recently introduced another course into the sixth form, the BTEC Sport (Performance and Excellence) to run alongside A level and IB. This two year course was introduced in September 2013 and the first results were published this summer with 100% pass rate and all students achieving either a Distinction or Merit award. Charlie Scott and Oliver Bohn achieved the highest level of double distinction, equivalent to AA at A level. Most opted to combine this double A level standard course with a second separate A level.
