b"MHESS - Mellow Yellow Day Academic Enrichment: Lower School Welcomes back House DebatingIn a first for a number of years - the Lower School House Debating Competition returned to the Arts Centre as part of the Academic Enrichment programme for the students. This first debating competition since Covid began was welcomed by a packed theatre of Lower School students and staff with 6 debaters (plus 2 understudies) from each House in Years 7 and 8.Topics covered were chosen to be in line with the John Muir Award work pertinent to the environmental and conservation based activities: 'Everyone should grow their own food', 'Science and technology have been bad for the environment', and 'Physical tourism is bad for the environment and should be stopped.'It's a Knock Out 2022 All the students on the debating teams performed exceptionally well - confidently, eloquently and with very well researched topics.Congratulations to Phillips House who were the overall winners and a huge thank you to the ChairpersonMr. Crawford for ajudicating!Sixth Form Team Building at St DavidsOn Thursday 1st September 2022, our Sixth Form pupils headed to the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastline for an expedition to forge new friendships before the start of the new school year.It provided an immersive insight into the global issues being tackled by conservation and sustainability projects in Wales through activities such as coastal walks, coast craft, a boat safari, a visit to a bug farm and coasteering. It was a great opportunity throughout to look ahead to what is in store for you at Ellesmere over the next two years.
