b'Welcome to Chris HorrocksEllesmere College is delighted to welcome its new Director of Sport, Chris Horrocks, who will oversee all aspects of the Sports provision at the school.Chris brings a long and distinguished career in sport, sport management & psychology to the school having played basketball all over the world.Chris joined us most recently from The Bishop of Hereford Blue Coat School where he was Curriculum Team Leader for PE, prior to this he has taught in Kuwait, Bristol, Cardiff and Chester. His playing and coaching career is even more distinguished, inspired at age 13 to start playing by two teachers - Mr Croasdale and Mr Davieshe played at the highest level through his career from U15 Welsh team, Tonkawa High School (Oklahoma USA), Artland Dragons (German Division 1), Akranes (Iceland Division 1), Illiabum (Portugal Division 1) and back to the UK. He has played at the highest International level, representing Team GB. He has not only coached, managed and developed teams through his playing career, but also whilst lecturing and undertaking his PhD in Sports Psychology at Cardiff University at the same time. Whilst at Ellesmere he aims to continue the growth of performance sport at the schoolincluding increasing the access to expertise and student welfare for performing student athletes, academic liaisons and developing professional pathways for students to continue their sporting journey after Ellesmere. And above all make fitness fun, accessible and sustainable for all students!Standing ovations all round as Ellesmere College students take to the stage!Students from Ellesmere College have been soaking up the applause from a string of show-stopping theatre performances.Noah Fisher, Imogen Edwards and Isobel Philbin are also members of Shropshire Musical Theatre Group Get Your Wigle On and have featured in a number of productions at Theatre Severn and the Barnes Theatre - the latest success being Frozen, with Noah appearing as Hans, Imogen as young Elsa and Isobel involved too.All three students have dreams of working in the entertainment industry with Noah, Year 11, wanting to write and perform his own songs, Imogen, Year 8, having designs on becoming an actress and Isobel, Year 8, wanting to be a movie director.Noah has already been cast in The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole; as Caractacus Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang; Nativity the Musical; one of the brothers in Joseph; Chicago; and as the donkey in the forthcoming production of Shrek.EllesmereCollellesmerecollellesmere_college4'
