WT100 Tennis at The Shrewsbury ClubEveryone from budding young tennis stars through to youngsters who had never held a racket had the chance to meet players and learn new skills as part of the ITF World Tennis Tour on the Family Fanzone Day at The Shrewsbury Club on Saturday, November 5.The tournament, which saw leading British and international stars compete, took place at The Shrewsbury Club in November. However, on Saturday, November 5, it was the turn of local youngsters as Ellesmere College and Opus-4 hosted a Family Fanzone Day.The ultimate family tennis experience, visitors were able to have a go at games such as pickleball as well as a wealth of other games including a competition to see who had the fastest serve, beat the coach, and had a go on the interactive multiwall with the winner taking home some holiday vouchers. Students and staff from the College helped youngsters get involved in lots of fun activities from mini-plays and media skills to maths puzzles, creative fun and fitness testing!The Shrewsbury Club\'s managing director, Dave Courteen, said he was excited to offer guests something different and interactive to do in between matches. "The Family Fanzone Day was one of the most highly anticipated events of the whole week," he said. "Not only was it on semi-finals day, but it gave tennis fans of all ages a chance to test their skills and get involved. We hoped these activities would give aspiring younger players a chance to showcase their skills and meet some stars ranked in the top 100 in the world, all while having fun with their family and friends!"The day offered families the chance to watch world-class tennis and join in all the off-court activities. Stephen Welti, Director of Tennis at Ellesmere College, said: "We were delighted to co-sponsor the Family Fanzone Day with Opus4.
